Tema Oil Refinery boosts operations with new logistics fleet

Management of Ghana’s Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has acquired a new fleet of vehicles to strengthen day-to-day operations and improve efficiency at the state-owned facility in Tema, officials said.

The fleet, commissioned in 2025, comprises eight new Mitsubishi vehicles, three Toyota Coaster buses, two industrial forklifts and other operational vehicles, marking the refinery’s first major logistics upgrade in 12 years.

Board Chairman Mr. Nayon Bilijo formally handed over the vehicles and authorised their immediate deployment to relevant staff for official and operational use at the refinery.

Management said the acquisition was financed through the refinery’s internally generated funds, underscoring efforts by the new leadership to address long-standing logistical gaps without external borrowing.

TOR last received significant logistical support in 2013, and management acknowledged that years of inadequate transport and equipment had constrained productivity and slowed operational progress.

The refinery’s leadership said the new fleet would enhance mobility, safety and workflow across departments, supporting its broader operational recovery agenda.

Management also expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama and the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Jinapor, for their continued backing of the refinery.

Appreciation was further extended to TOR’s workforce for its dedication and cooperation as management pursues reforms to stabilise and revitalise refinery operations.
