Saudi Arabia and Russia have reaffirmed the importance of their cooperation in supporting stability in global energy markets, with Riyadh describing the partnership as vital to balancing the interests of producers and consumers.
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan made the remarks during a visit to Moscow, where he met his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov.
Prince Faisal said Saudi-Russian cooperation contributes to sustainable global economic growth while strengthening economic, trade and investment ties between the two countries.
The discussions also highlighted the continued development of bilateral relations across several sectors, including trade, investment and the wider economy.
The two sides expressed their intention to further strengthen the longstanding relationship between Riyadh and Moscow, which dates back a century.
They also discussed regional and international challenges, including the Palestinian cause and the situation in Yemen, while stressing the importance of security and freedom of navigation along key international waterways, particularly the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab El-Mandab Strait.
The emphasis on the two waterways comes as their security remains significant to global energy markets because of their role in the movement of oil and other energy commodities.
