Nigeria: Parts of Abuja to Experience 8 Hour Power Outage on Sunday – TCN

Several parts of Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, are expected to experience a temporary electricity outage on Sunday as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) carries out scheduled maintenance at the 132kV Apo Transmission Substation.

According to TCN, the maintenance exercise will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., affecting electricity supply to Lugbe, Garki, Area 1, National Hospital, Guzape, Asokoro and other surrounding communities.

The company said the exercise will involve the stringing and latching of Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) on the two 132kV Katampe-Apo transmission lines between towers T130 and T132.

TCN explained that during the maintenance, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will not be able to receive power for onward distribution to customers in the affected areas.

The transmission company said electricity supply would be restored immediately after the maintenance work is completed.

TCN apologised to residents and electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience the planned outage may cause.
