Ghana Gas refutes claims of procurement and insurance irregularities

The Ghana National Gas Company has dismissed media reports alleging irregularities in its procurement processes and the recent change in its lead insurance arrangement.

In a statement issued by Mr. Richard Ernest Kirk-Mensah, Head of Corporate Affairs, the company firmly denied any wrongdoing, stressing that all procurement and related decisions were conducted in full compliance with applicable rules and procedures.

Management explained that the revised insurance arrangement is lawful and forms part of an enhanced risk management framework designed to better safeguard the company’s assets.

The company further noted that all contracts awarded have gone through the required approval processes from the Public Procurement Authority, following prior commitment authorizations issued by the Ministry of Finance Ghana.

It reiterated the commitment of the Board and management to uphold transparency, accountability, and stakeholder trust.

Ghana Gas added that it remains focused on delivering gas efficiently and on time to meet the country’s energy requirements consistently.

The statement also emphasized that, in line with standard corporate governance practice, the company will continue to review and strengthen its internal systems where necessary to ensure effective compliance, risk management, and overall governance in the interest of all stakeholders.
