Energy Minister Engages AFD on Ghana’s Energy Reforms

Ghana’s Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Jinapor, has held talks with the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) to expand cooperation in the country’s energy sector, the ministry said.

The discussions took place in Accra and focused on strengthening ongoing and future collaboration to support reforms, investment and long-term transformation of the sector.

The meeting comes as Ghana intensifies efforts to modernise its energy infrastructure and accelerate a shift toward sustainable and green energy solutions.

Hon. Jinapor praised AFD as a long-standing and reliable development partner, citing its sustained support for energy infrastructure financing and policy development over the years.

He said the partnership has contributed significantly to advancing Ghana’s energy development objectives and improving sector performance.

The minister stressed the need for continued collaboration as the government works to boost efficiency, expand electricity access and drive the green transition.

AFD officials reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Ghana’s energy reforms and investment priorities. Both sides expressed optimism about scaling up cooperation in line with Ghana’s broader development agenda. They said deeper engagement would help build a more resilient, inclusive and sustainable energy sector.
