Energy Minister Appoints New Board for GNPC Explorco

John Abdulai Jinapor, Ghana’s Minister of Energy and Green Transition, has officially inaugurated the new Board of Directors for GNPC Exploration and Production Limited (Explorco), the upstream arm of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation. The ceremony highlighted Explorco’s crucial role in the country’s petroleum sector, with the minister emphasizing the importance of enhancing exploration activities to secure Ghana’s long-term energy future.

Jinapor stated that the objective is to sustainably increase oil reserves, which will significantly contribute to the nation’s revenue and bolster energy security. He urged the new board to ensure that Explorco remains competitive in the global oil and gas market while implementing strategies that support Ghana’s green transition agenda.

The newly formed board comprises Dr. Aaron Issa Anafure, Samuel Opoku Arthur (Ag. Managing Director), Stella Bondzie, Kwame Ntow Amoah, and Benjamin Narteh Ayiku, MP for Ledzekuku. The minister expressed confidence that the board’s diverse expertise will enhance Explorco’s operations and establish it as a leader in Africa’s oil and gas industry. This new leadership is expected to drive strategic initiatives that align with the country’s energy goals.
