The Member of Parliament for Afigya Kwabre North, Hon. Collins Adomako-Mensah, has urged key government officials to submit the overdue annual report on the Energy Sector Support Account, raising concerns over compliance with statutory requirements.
The report, mandated under the Energy Sector Levies Act, 2025, was due to Parliament on March 31, 2026, but has yet to be presented.
According to checks in Parliament, the document remains outstanding, prompting questions about transparency and accountability in the management of Ghana’s energy sector finances.
In a statement, Hon. Adomako-Mensah specifically referenced Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson and Energy Minister John Abdulai Jinapor, reminding them of the missed deadline.
He noted that as of April 6, 2026, the report had still not been submitted to Parliament.
The Energy Sector Support Account plays a key role in managing funds collected through the Energy Sector Shortfall and Debt Repayment Levy, which is intended to stabilise the sector and support its long term sustainability.
Under the law, the annual report must be submitted by the end of March each year to ensure proper oversight and strengthen public confidence in the use of energy sector funds.
