Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) Assures the State of Stable Power Supply During Election Period

The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) has assured the public that electricity and internet services will remain fully operational throughout the upcoming elections, dismissing claims circulating on social media about planned disruptions.

The spokesperson of the Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL), Jonan Kiiza, said the notice alleging service interruptions did not originate from the company and does not reflect its official communications.

He confirmed that prepaid electricity vending systems, which rely on internet connectivity, will continue to function normally during the electoral period. Kiiza added that the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has also provided assurances that internet services will not be switched off.

The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) urged customers to ignore the false notice and continue purchasing electricity units through authorized channels, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring uninterrupted power supply and essential services during the elections.
