
Libya has reported a notable increase in oil and gas production following maintenance and optimisation activities at the Abu Attifel field, according to the National Oil Corporation.
Gas output from the Abu Attifel field operated by Mellitah Oil & Gas increased from 4,261 million cubic feet per day to 5,582 million cubic feet per day.
Wellhead pressure also rose significantly to 1,000 PSI indicating that the field has returned to full operational capacity.
In a separate development technical teams successfully brought the KK 1 well back into operation after carrying out scale removal works on the previously shut down facility.
The well is now producing about 1,187 barrels of oil per day together with 2.715 million cubic feet of gas daily with production reported to be free from water and impurities.
The National Oil Corporation (NOC) said the improvements form part of its broader strategy to increase national production levels optimise resource utilisation and strengthen the long term sustainability of the sector.
The National Oil Corporation (NOC) also credited local technical teams for the successful execution of the maintenance and recovery operations which support Libya’s wider production targets.
Industry observers say the gains at Abu Attifel are expected to contribute meaningfully to the country’s overall oil and gas output while reinforcing Libya’s position as a major regional energy producer.
The increase in production capacity is also expected to support economic stability and improve investor confidence in the country’s energy sector.
The National Oil Corporation (NOC) added that continued maintenance programmes technological upgrades and workforce development remain central to its efforts to meet domestic energy needs and fulfil international market obligations.
