Africa Secures Over $11 Billion in Clean Energy Investments

French and African leaders have announced more than $11 billion in renewable energy investments aimed at accelerating clean energy development and industrial growth across the continent.

The commitments were unveiled during a CEO forum held alongside the France-Africa Summit in Nairobi, attended by French President Emmanuel Macron, Kenyan President William Ruto, and leaders from over 30 African countries.

Major companies including TotalEnergies and EDF announced projects spanning solar, wind, hydropower, clean cooking, and sustainable aviation fuel. Key agreements include plans for Africa’s first sustainable aviation fuel plant in Kenya, as well as major investments in renewable energy projects across multiple countries.

African leaders say the investments will support green industrialization, expand electricity access, and strengthen the continent’s role in the global energy transition.
