Accra will host the Electric Vehicle Revolution Africa Conference (ERA 2025) from 3rd to 4th December 2025 at the Alisa Hotel, bringing together policymakers, investors, and industry leaders to chart Africa’s path towards clean and sustainable mobility.
Organised by the Energy Quest Foundation, the two-day conference comes at a crucial time when African economies face rising fuel costs, worsening urban pollution, and increasing pressure to align with global energy transition goals.
Clean Green Investment at the Core
This year’s theme, “Clean Green Investment,” highlights the urgent need to bridge the gap between innovation and finance. While African startups and research institutions continue to develop electric mobility solutions, access to capital and supportive policies remain essential to scaling these innovations.
Delegates will explore the full spectrum of Africa’s electric vehicle (EV) transition. Sessions will focus on regulatory frameworks for adoption, financing models to make EVs accessible across income levels, and the infrastructure needed to support charging networks in both urban and rural areas.
The conference will also examine how renewable energy sources, particularly solar and wind, can power the EV shift, while addressing challenges related to battery lifecycle management, recycling, and circular economy practices.
A New Narrative for Africa
Ghana, the host nation, launched its National Electric Vehicle Policy in 2023. The framework includes phased targets, incentives for local assembly, and measures to improve access for public transport operators. The policy forms part of Ghana’s broader commitment to advancing clean energy and sustainable transport.
Africa holds vast lithium reserves, abundant renewable energy potential, and a growing base of innovators working to design EV systems suited to the continent’s unique needs. ERA 2025 seeks to shift the narrative from dependency to leadership, positioning Africa as an emerging hub for clean mobility solutions.
Organisers say the gathering is expected to stimulate collaboration, knowledge sharing, and investments that can accelerate the continent’s transition to a low-carbon transport future.
