Ghana to Experience Power Outages on July 13 as ENI Boosts Gas Supply

The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has announced that ENI will increase its natural gas supply by 30 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd), effective July 13, 2025. This increase will raise the total gas supply to 270 MMscfd but will necessitate a temporary suspension of gas exports to optimize the supply chain.

In a statement released on July 9, the Ministry cautioned that this transition will impact gas availability for power generation, potentially leading to power interruptions. Energy Minister John Abdulai Jinapor confirmed that scheduled nationwide power outages would occur on July 13 due to ENI’s maintenance activities.

The Ministry has implemented measures to mitigate disruptions, including enhanced monitoring and contingency plans to maintain stability in power supply. Jinapor emphasized that these steps are essential for stabilizing the energy sector. The Ministry remains committed to ensuring a reliable and sustainable energy future for all Ghanaians.
