The West African Gas Pipeline Company Limited (WAPCo) is set to begin mandatory offshore pipeline cleaning and inspection from February 5 to March 2, 2025.
The exercise, known as pipeline inspection gauge (PIG), is conducted every five years to ensure the pipeline’s integrity, enhance safety, and maintain smooth operations in line with regulatory standards.
Ahead of the inspection, WAPCo has started installing key equipment, including an effluent management system, to support the process.
The operation involves clearing the pipeline of debris, dirt, and liquids, inspecting its internal walls, and replacing subsea valves. During this period, gas transportation services will be temporarily suspended as part of the comprehensive maintenance effort.
