
The Volta River Authority (VRA) distinguished itself at the 7th Africa Procurement and Supply Chain Summit & Awards 2025 held in Lagos, Nigeria, from July 3–5. The Authority received three prestigious awards, showcasing its leadership and innovation in public procurement across Africa. VRA was recognized for Excellence in Vendor Engagement due to its supplier-led procurement approach facilitated by the Oracle Fusion digital platform, enhancing transparency and trust.
Additionally, the Authority won the Silver award for Procurement Team of the Year, acknowledging its structured and digitized procurement framework that aligns with national regulations. Jacob Fosu-Kyei, the Director of Procurement, was honored as Africa’s Innovative Public Procurement Leader of the Year for his role in implementing governance-driven reforms and digital transformation at VRA. These accolades underscore VRA’s commitment to innovation, transparency, and sustainable practices, setting a benchmark for effective public procurement in the region, in line with the summit’s theme of strengthening governance and compliance.
