CMA CGM and Maersk are working together to encourage the use of methanol and investigate alternative fuels like ammonia in an effort to lower emissions in the shipping sector. Whereas CMA CGM concentrates on gas-powered ships and ships that can utilise methanol, Maersk concentrates on green methanol. Both businesses expect future shifts in the shipping industry’s fuel mix.
CGM and CMA CGM are working together to expedite port preparation for ship refuelling and to develop guidelines for operating green methanol vessels. In an effort to lower emissions in the maritime sector, researchers are looking into alternative fuel options including ammonia and new vessel technologies.
