President Mahama reassigns Edward Bawa from GNPC to GOIL; appoints Kwame Ntow as GNPC CEO

Edward Abambire Bawa has been reassigned as the Group CEO of the state oil marketing company, GOIL. He announced the move on his personal Facebook page on February 13, 2025, stating that the reassignment is part of President John Dramani Mahama’s broader energy sector strategy.

Prior to this, Mr. Bawa was appointed as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) on January 17, 2025. His appointment was confirmed in a letter signed by the Executive Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, in accordance with Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Section 10(2) of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation Act, 1983 (P.N.D.C.L. 64).

Meanwhile, GNPC has announced the appointment of Mr. Kwame Ntow as its new Acting CEO following Bawa’s reassignment.  His expertise, experience, and leadership are expected to propel the Corporation’s strategic vision forward, ensuring the growth and success of GNPC and Ghana’s energy sector.
