Global Energy Transition Investment Exceeded $2 Trillion in 2024

Global investment in the low-carbon energy transition rose by 11% to reach $2.1 trillion in 2024, according to BloombergNEF’s Energy Transition Investment Trends 2025 report.

Electrified transport led the surge with $757 billion spent on electric vehicles, public charging infrastructure, and fuel cell technology. Renewable energy followed closely, attracting $728 billion in investments across wind, solar, and biofuels.

Power grids also saw significant funding, reaching $390 billion for transmission lines, substation equipment, and grid digitalization.

However, the report highlights a gap between mature sectors like renewables and electric vehicles, which received $1.93 trillion, and emerging clean energy technologies that need greater investment to sustain long-term growth.
