Ghana’s petroleum downstream regulator, the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has said it expects the country’s long-awaited liquefied natural gas import facility to be completed by the end of the year, despite several hurdles.
The pipeline-and-storage network that will receive liquefied natural gas deliveries is currently under construction and is expected to be completed by the end of the year, according to Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, the Chief Executive Officer of the NPA.
He said this during an interview on the sidelines of the EGYPES energy conference in Cairo.
“Our Ghana government signed an agreement with Equatorial Guinea for the supply of LNG,” Abdul-Hamid said in a statement.
Mustapha Abdul-Hamid stated that the imported LNG will meet domestic industrial demand as well as cars fitted to burn compressed natural gas, among other uses.
