Ghana is set to commission its first-ever NuScale full-scope simulator, the E2 Centre, on Thursday, January 16, 2025. This state-of-the-art facility will serve as a hub for training the next generation of nuclear experts in Ghana and across sub-Saharan Africa.
The E2 Centre is part of a $1.75 million funding initiative from the U.S. Department of State under the FIRST program. Equipped by NuScale Energy Exploration Center and the Nuclear Power Institute, the facility is connected to NuScale’s headquarters in Oregon, USA, ensuring world-class training. It will educate students, train non-licensed operators, and create public awareness about nuclear technology, offering a scalable solution to Ghana’s growing energy demands.
This milestone is part of Ghana’s broader plans to include nuclear energy in its power mix to drive industrialization and ensure energy security.
