The Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, has announced that Ghana is set to build a second gas processing plant to boost the country’s energy supply.
He made the announcement at a media briefing at the Jubilee House on March 7, 2025. He confirmed that Cabinet has approved the project, which will be carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance.
Dr. Jinapor highlighted Ghana’s current gas supply challenges, revealing that the country requires approximately $700 million worth of liquid fuel to bridge the fuel deficit. To address this, he stated that Cabinet has approved a series of measures, including the construction of the new gas processing plant, to provide a long-term solution.
