Turkish power producer Aksa Enerji is set to launch operations at the Djeno Power Plant in the Republic of Congo, with the first 25 MW turbine expected to come online in March 2025. This initiative aims to improve electrification in the country, where only about 50% of the population has access to electricity, and rural areas face even lower rates at around 12%.
Currently, the country’s main power generation facility is the Centrale Électrique du Congo (CEC), a joint venture between Eni and the Congolese government. Located in Pointe-Noire, the CEC recently expanded its capacity from 314 MW to 484 MW, reinforcing its role in Congo’s energy sector.
