The Bui Power Authority (BPA) is exploring the potential of developing a wind energy facility at Anloga, Volta Region.
This follows previous research that revealed that the Anloga District had the maximum wind speed capable of generating power for the national grid.
Prior to the inauguration of a GH¢1 million one-storey six-unit classroom block built by BPA for the Anloga-Avete D/A Basic School, the Chief Executive Officer of the BPA, Mr Dzamesi stated that the wind energy project will make the district self-sufficient in terms of power while also creating large numbers of jobs for the youth.
He added that the BPA’s mandate was to develop all renewable energy resources, including wind energy. In that regard, he said that the Authority prioritised the proposal to build the power plant in Anloga as soon as possible.
Mr Dzamesi reiterated that the Volta Region was important to BPA because it housed the Tsatsadu producing plant, Ghana’s pioneering 45 kilowatt micro hydro producing plant in Alavanyo, which was built with local skills and engineers.
