Katima Mulilo, Ngoma, and other districts of Botswana supplied by NamPower have been without electricity since Sunday morning.
In a statement issued on Sunday, NamPower’s area manager for the country’s northern region, Petrus Immanuel, stated that load shedding was enforced owing to a suspected damaged transformer at a substation in Katima Mulilo.
He said that technical teams were scheduled to arrive in Katima Mulilo on Monday to examine the situation. That load shedding would continue if the transformer needs replacement because a new transformer would have to be carried from Windhoek.
