The Australian Federal Government has approved the development of three onshore wind projects in New South Wales, adding over 2.4 GW of renewable energy capacity.
The projects include the 1,332 MW Liverpool Range wind project near Coolah, the 700 MW Spicers Creek wind project near Gulgong—both within the Central West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ)—and the 372 MW Hills of Gold wind project near Nundle. Together, they are expected to offset 6.5 million tonnes of CO₂ annually.
Earlier in March 2025, the government also granted feasibility licences for two offshore wind projects along Australia’s southeastern coast, with a combined capacity of 3.2 GW. These initiatives align with the country’s efforts to expand renewable energy and reduce carbon emissions
