Afetsi Awoonor has been appointed as the new Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), effective January 20, 2025.
The announcement, made by President John Dramani Mahama’s administration, marks a new chapter for one of West Africa’s key oil infrastructure companies. At a handover ceremony in Accra, outgoing MD Dr. Edwin Provencal officially passed on leadership to Mr. Awoonor, who brings nearly a decade of experience in the African energy sector, including senior roles at DOC Africa and Convenio Energy.
During the hand over ceremony, Mr. Awoonor thanked Dr. Provencal for his dedicated leadership and promised to focus on teamwork, innovation, and excellence at BOST. Stakeholders, including the BOST Senior Staff Union and local leaders, have praised the appointment, calling it a recognition of his expertise and commitment. With his strong background in oil and gas management and extensive industry experience, Mr. Awoonor is expected to lead BOST in strengthening Ghana’s energy infrastructure and driving growth in the sector.
