Global energy giant ENI has reaffirmed its commitment to Ghana’s energy sector, commending the government for fostering a highly collaborative and investor-friendly environment.
The commendation was made during a high-level meeting held in Accra involving the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor; the Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson; and the Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza. The session brought together senior government officials and top ENI executives to review ongoing operations, discuss future investments, and strengthen partnerships in Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector.
A key highlight of the meeting was ENI’s announcement of a significant increase in gas supply to 270 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd), further solidifying the company’s strategic role in supporting Ghana’s energy needs.
ENI expressed satisfaction with the government’s efforts to maintain a stable and transparent regulatory environment, which has played a vital role in attracting and retaining investments. The company also confirmed its readiness to inject additional capital into Ghana’s upstream sector, citing confidence in the country’s long-term energy prospects.
Energy Minister John Abdulai Jinapor commended ENI for its continued contributions, particularly its recent declaration of commerciality, a milestone reflecting the company’s sustained commitment to Ghana’s energy development. He noted that progress achieved in the past six months has outpaced that of the previous eight years, with ENI’s operations serving as a catalyst for new investments and increased investor confidence.
Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson acknowledged ENI’s resilience and strategic focus, especially in the face of earlier sector challenges. He assured the company of the government’s support, including the planned restoration of a US$500 million partial risk guarantee by the first quarter of 2026.
He further encouraged ENI to expand exploration and production activities in line with Ghana’s target of scaling oil production to 500,000 barrels per day.
The meeting reflected a renewed spirit of cooperation between the Government of Ghana and ENI—anchored on mutual trust, regulatory stability, and a shared vision for long-term growth in the energy sector.
